  6. The files that should be in this archive are (2.1 release):

  8. msged(p).exe     Msgedsq!
  9. msgedsq.doc      Doccumentation
  10. hist.doc         History of mods for this verison.
  11. keycode(p).exe   Gives you the keycodes for keys
  12. msged.cfg        Sample config file
  13. areas.bbs        Sample areas.bbs file
  14. rhelp.hlp        Reader Help file
  15. ehelp.hlp        Editor Help file
  16. readme           Readme file (this one)

  18. If you didn't get all these then you should attemp a version that has all these
  19. files (you don't know where it's been :).  If you find things don't work the
  20. way you expect, please rftm; some things have changed.  You SHOULD use the
  21. distributed cfg file - quite a few things are slighlty different.
  22.  
  23. When reporting bugs, please state the version you are using. The version is
  24. displayed on the first screen when msgedsq is fired up.  If you're using a
  25. beta version (one with a trailing "b"), don't expect much help unless you're
  26. on the beta team (who aren't really a team, but know who they are :-).  Tho
  27. bug reports are always "welcome" (;-), please ensure you have the latest
  28. version.  Btw.  Note my new fido address.

  30. Known Bug Alert!:  Do not enter/foward/copy etc. any message in an area
  31.                    where the path is incorrect - it will crash.  If the
  32.                    path is correct but the squish files don't exist, they
  33.                    will be created.  This only applies to cases where the
  34.                    path is definetley out/wrong.  This hasn't been fixed
  35.                    because it requires quite a few fixes.  Only seems to
  36.                    apply to squish areas,  but don't try it, just in case.
  37.  
  38. 2.0.6 was never to be; I decided to go to a major release instead.  The DOCs
  39. were still a little rushed, but they're certainly more complete than the last
  40. version.  I'm finding that spare time is hard to come by at the moment, so
  41. I released it, rather than make you guys wait another month :-)
  42.  
  43. OS/2 people:  This needs the msgapi.dll that comes with the Maximums CBCS 
  44. distribution or the SquishMail distribution.  It should work with both
  45. versions of the DLL (the v2 and v2wb releases of Maximus).
  46.  
  47. Once you're finished, all you need for operation is the msged.exe and
  48. msged.cfg -- all the rest can be chucked away.  The help files will not
  49. be used if they are not present.
